Getting started

Of course! We’re always happy to see our customers in-store. By default, we operate under the assumption that orders are shipped out. However, if you need to stop by for your order pick-up, just let us know in the order notes.

Depends on what you want to do with it! You can make a number of different kinds of products with our 3/16” rope:
10yd bundles are especially great for people who want to just try out the product;
20 yard bundles are great companions to the kits—enough to do another project plus a little extra.
If you have customers that do a bit of rope sewing, the spoolette is a nice in between size. With the spoolette, you can make about half the projects in our rope sewing book.
If you teach a lot of classes, purchasing a spool and cutting it down to your needs would be the most cost effective option.

You are welcome to reach out with a request or suggestion, but typically the answer is no on special orders.

There is a bit of a difference between the popularity of our cut lengths vs spoolettes, but typically, our most popular colors are:
Black, Red, Navy, Pale Sage, and Seafoam

No. Our colorful rope is about 89% cotton, 20% polyester

We offer business-to-business wholesale accounts. It’s pretty quick and easy. To set up a Wholesale account with us please our Wholesale page to fill out the initial application. Things you need with your to open an account:
You will need to share your company’s web address
Your Resale license number
A file or picture of your state tax resale license, tax exemption, or certificate of exemption
and other applicable Company details

Cut yard lenghts
Mini Spoolettes
Spools
Kits
Books
Patterns
Finished baskets
It does NOT include any of our merch, fabric, or notions. There are also times we will have exclusive rope mixes that are full retail only.

There are no minimums for specific products, just an overall order value amount.
If it is your initial wholesale purchase with us, the opening order is $300, plus calculated shipping
If you have completed your first wholesale order with us before, the reorder requirement is $150 per order, plus calculated shipping.

All shipping is calculated during the draft order process. Shipping costs will be added to your order invoice after your order has been packed. Things to remember:
Shipping costs do not count towards order minimums
We do offer shipping discounts throughout the year, so make sure you’re subscribed to our email alerts
We ship out orders within 2 business days of payment (typically, they are sent out the day of payment)

Nearly everything for wholesale is half off retail (the prices you see already advertised here). The exceptions to that are the full sized Spools, which have a percent discount.
Account Questions

Go to the Wholesale Section of our website.
Scroll down until you see a purple “Shop Wholesale” button.
Click that.
Then click “Sign In”
Enter in the email and password you used to send the application in.
Email us if you have any trouble navigating this process.
Please be aware that our RETAIL and WHOLESALE sites are different. If you place an order on our RETAIL site, you will be paying full cost for the items and will not be refunded the difference.

Follow the same instructions to login in, except when you get to the “Sign In” page, click “Forgot Password”. You will be sent a link to reset your password (the email will be address from CANDID not The Mountain Thread Company). We, unfortunately, cannot help with this issue. If you need help beyond this, you will need to contact CANDID for assistance. (Candid is the platform we use to host our wholesale website, like how our retail site is hosted by Squarespace).

Yes! Once your account has been approved, you can create multiple logins for any of your employees. Simply log into your account, then follow the directions to set up another login.

Because you are now able to order directly through the website you can also pay directly through your online account! We will send you an email with a link to pay via credit card or ACH when the invoice is ready.
Of course we are still available to take your payments over the phone and you can still mail us a check if you prefer.
