Beginners are those with NO or VERY LITTLE sewing machine experience. These classes will also teach and reinforce skills related to sewing machine use, safety, and project construction. Participants will be able to practice these new skills each day in every project.
Skilled beginners are those with some sewing machine experience. The skilled beginner is comfortable with threading the machine, winding a bobbin, adjusting some stitches, and sewing a straight (or mostly straight) line.
Intermediate sewists are those who have the skills of an skilled beginner (see above) and are also able to sew curves, follow a seam allowance, and are gaining the skills of reading/understanding patterns and terminology related to project construction.
Lunch/snacks are not provided; please send your young crafter with a packed lunch & snack each day.
Participants in each class receive group and individual instruction, access to varieties of materials and supplies for their projects, and use of the class set of sewing machines provided by The Mountain Thread Company. Projects are different in each week of camp, even if the week’s theme is the same.
